Guåhan + Producing + Professor Life

We moved to Guam in the autumn of 2020. With COVID-19 turning the entire world upside down, it makes some kind of sense that something so unpredictable came our way.

The year that has followed has been marked by the distinct feeling that even when it seems impossible, even when I can’t see how to make it happen, theatre and storytelling is what I want to be doing more than anything.

I count myself blessed beyond measure to have been welcomed to the team of Unspoken; Volume III - Reaching Across produced by Breaking Wave Theatre Company. I was thrilled to get my hands back into the world of budgets and spreadsheets as an assistant producer under the expert guidance of CJ Ochoco. The whole team has been remarkable to work with.

I am also delighted to be teaching directing at the University of Guam. It is an honor to walk alongside these young artists as they develop their voices and it does my heart a great deal of good to be engaging with mammoth texts like Uncle Vanya and Sweat as part of their curriculum.

My hope is 2022 brings more teaching, more experimenting, more trusting that if a story is involved, I want to be a part of the telling.
